Civil society against COVID-19
Rewarding solidarity initiatives to tackle the Covid-19 emergency and its consequences in Europe
The Civil Solidarity Prize will reward up to 29 not-for-profit initiatives carried out by natural persons, civil society organisations or private companies which aim to tackle the Covid-19 crisis and its manifold consequences.

Public hearing
The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is organising a public hearing on "The rule of law and its impact on economic growth" on Tuesday, 8 September 2020, from 2:30 p.m.
The event will bring together a wide range of civil society organisations to discuss the economic importance of the rule of law and other fundamendal values of the EU, based on the findings and recommendations of an EESC own-initiative opinion.

Virtual public hearing
In an exploratory opinion requested by the German Presidency of the Council, the EESC sets out "diversity management" measures for ensuring that migrants and ethnic minorities are better included in and integrated into the workplace and society.

The EESC EU-Japan Follow-up Committee will meet in the morning of 17 July. Items for discussion on the agenda are the EU-Japan Relations in the post COVID-19 era and Research and innovation. In addition to this, the Follow-up Committee will assess the current mandate period and reflect on future perspectives.
