Research and data

We use a variety of methods to collect evidence on the state of fundamental rights in the EU.

These include:

  • Desk research
  • Qualitative socio-legal studies
  • Legal opinions
  • Large-scale quantitative surveys

These research findings align with relevant law and policy. We use comparative studies and interactive data tools to share results. The Research and Data Unit is responsible for:

  1. Just, Digital and Secure Societies
  2. Fair and Equal Societies.

These programmes cover subjects from artificial intelligence to data protection. We explore inequality in different areas of life. We provide evidence and expertise to international organisations, civil society and academia.
