Study visits at FRA

FRA offers the possibility of study visits throughout the year.

Study visits are designed to offer academics and professionals (i.e. the study visitors) the possibility to put their knowledge into practice, to conduct more detailed study of specific subjects in the field of fundamental rights and to gain knowledge of the work of the FRA. In addition to these rules, FRA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the European University Institute in Florence, Italy.

The duration of a study visit should normally not exceed 12 (twelve) months.

Study visitors must be university graduates.

Study visits are not paid.

Persons wishing to undertake a study visit should apply by e-mail to recruitment@fra.europa.eu. They should send their CV together with a motivation letter specifying the area of FRA's work they are interested in. The Human Resources and Planning Department will ascertain whether the relevant FRA departments are able to accommodate their request and will inform them accordingly.

We strongly recommend that applicants read the Rules governing study visits at FRA carefully before submitting their applications.

Admission to the study visits programme does not entail any right or priority with regard to recruitment at FRA. In line with the rules governing the FRA traineeship programme, FRA study visitors are not considered eligible candidates for the general internship programme at FRA.

The processing of personal data by FRA is governed by Regulation (EU) 2018/1725. By submitting a request for a study visit, the interested person is understood, in the sense of Article 5 (d) of the Regulation, to have given his/her consent to the processing of the personal data contained in the CV and the supporting documents enclosed therewith. The personal data in question is collected by FRA for the sole purpose of the study visit.
