Corruption
Corruption creates a fertile ground for organized criminal activities and terrorism.
From our work in helping EU Member States fight all forms of serious and organised crime we are acutely aware of the role played by corruption in facilitating crime and corroding standards of good governance in many countries around the world. Europol offers a platform to coordinate the sharing of intelligence and operational activity among a community of hundreds of law enforcement agencies in Europe. This includes specialist capabilities in the fields of asset recovery and the investigation of suspicious financial transactions.
Europol is committed to support the work of the new International Anti-Corruption Coordination Centre (IACCC) by making these capabilities available to the new Centre through the appropriate mechanisms. This will ensure that the EU’s well-developed practices in this area can better support effective anti-corruption action on the global stage.
